Hello
I have a question. I have not permanently stored my grades yet for Q2 & S1. Some teachers have already done the verification step for some of their classes but now are making changes to the grades that they previously verified. Are they able to do the verification process again since the grades have not been permanently stored yet?
If you are using Section Readiness in PT Pro, they cannot un-check and re-check the verification, but they can add additional comments such as "Re-Verified 2-8-23."
Verification has no bearing on the storing of grades.
Oh really? Because I did have a teacher that did not do the verification step last quarter and her grades printed with a blank on the Report Card?
Grade Verification is just a communication tool; I work with over 70 districts and more than half of them don't even use the built-in Section Readiness feature of PT Pro.
Blank stored grades are usually just that--grades that were blank in a teacher's gradebook when they were stored.
Ahhh ok. Thank you!
You'll usually see a bunch of those for exam store-codes for classes that don't give exams. Here in New York, we use a Regents (State test) R6 store code and not all classes have a Regents exam, so you end up with a boatload of blank R6 grades for non-Regents classes in June.
Jeff can I ask one more question......I have students that have transferred out of my district but I have not permanently stored grades yet. Do I need to still keep them active in PowerSchool in order to for their grades to be stored and be able to send a transcript/Report Card to the new district w/the students S1 grades?
No, you can store grades for Transferred Out kids. Just make sure you use the correct date in the Include/Exclude enrollments area. If you'd like even more control, you can select the transferred out kids and use Additional Filter Options to store specifically for that student.
Thank you so much for your help!
My teachers are supposed to have grades in today in less than 2 hours and over 2/3 of them are showing as Not Complete on the Section Readiness report and several are showing as not complete with with verification dates. Is the Section Readiness report reliable? What constitutes Section Readiness complete? What constitutes verified? Does verification affect readiness? Is verification necessary?
Verification is purely informational and has no bearing on the entering, storing, or reporting of grades.
Regarding Section Readiness settings:
If a teacher opens the Final Grade Status screen and checks the Final Grades are Complete checkbox, the Section Readiness report will show the Verified Date and the Verified Status will display as Complete. If they included a Comment, that too would display.
If a teacher opens the Final Grade Status screen and simply clicks the Save button without making any other entries, the Section Readiness report will show a Verified Date, but will have a Verified Status of Not Complete.
If a teacher opens the Final Grade Status screen, enters a comment but nothing else and clicks Save, the Section Readiness report will display a Verified Date and the comment, but the Verified Status will still be Not Complete.
The bottom line is that if the teacher believes all their grades are complete and ready for storing, they must click the checkbox indicating that grades are complete. Otherwise, it should be assumed that there is some delay on their part. If a teacher is delayed for some reason, they could use the Comment field to indicate this.
If teachers forget to check (and save) the little box in the upper right corner of their Final Grade Status popup screen in PT Pro, the class will appear as Not Complete in the Section Readiness report. If you see a comment they are probably done but missed this step. I always reach out to teachers appearing as Not Complete at/near deadline to remind them to check the box.
Hope this helps!
