Course Relationships/Dependent sections

Our 5th and 6th grades have home room first thing in the morning. they then remain in that home room for their first period.

We have one course called Home Room. It is used for all 4 grades with various sections.

I tried to make the required sections dependent but that did not seem to load the students from the first period into the home room.

I can't use the Relationship tab because it is not all home rooms relating to one course.

Right now there are 7th and 8th graders placing into home rooms specifically designed for 5th or 6th graders.

Any advice to get the home rooms and first periods to be the same?

Ex:

Susie has O Math first period with Mrs. Smith. Susie should have home room with Mrs. Smith.

Thank you!

Hi @myersm!

Situations like yours are an ideal case for using the Section Link constraint. This would allow you to link specific sections of your Home Room Course with the sections that they will roll over into. That way you can have a 1:1 relationship from the Home Room section to the appropriate section that students will be attending immediately after. The following PowerSchool Community article provides more detailed information about the Section Link Constraint:
