I've recently updated my MacOS to Big Sur and can no longer operate my gradebook. Has anyone else had this problem? Were you able to find a solution?
Hi,
There are multiple reasons that would cause you to not be able to use PowerTeacher Gradebook after a Mac OS update, some of them being a java version incompatibility and lack of necessary permissions.
Please use the install version of the PowerTeacher Gradebook application which comes with the compatible version of java.
We have had threads by members who had similar issues that are linked below for convenience.
Mac OS X Catalina install problems
Java version compatibility with Power Teacher 2.8.0.15.1 Gradebook
I just got a new MacBook and am having the same issue. Our tech guy and I have walked through every possible solution that we have found here in the community and outside and nothing is working. I have been able to download and install, and then when I run the program I get logged in but get this error message.
I have the latest version of Java installed.
Hi @mkerr,
Thank you for providing this information in PowerSchool Community!
If you have tried all the possible ways documented here and still haven't resolved the issue, we recommend reaching out to the Designated Support Contact within your school district who should be able to help you in connecting with the PowerSchool SIS Support team to look into this further and provide you better assistance.
Was there a solution to this yet? Big Sur won't run 32-bit applications. Is there a 64-bit version of this application? Are there any other pieces of PowerSchool we need to update on the Mac before upgrading to Big Sur?
Hi @Frabeyta,
Due to recent changes with Java support on Mac OS Big Sur, PowerTeacher Gradebook is no longer compatible with the Operating System. PowerTeacher Gradebook requires an older version of Java that is not supported on Mac OS Big Sur.
You can install a local version of PTG instead of the Java version that may still work or explore options to roll back to an older version of Mac OS that supports the Java version.
Due to PowerTeacher Gradebook no longer being supported, the best resolution we can suggest is switching to PowerTeacher Pro for the best experience.
