Adding a new building in PowerSchool

We are adding another elementary to our district in PowerSchool. Any tips?

In PowerSchool Professional Learning go to the Administration tab, go to Schools and click Enter New School. Fill in the school information and click Create School.

Next, you'll need to set up the school as a new office. Go to the Professional Learning tab, then Configuration. Under Office Set-Up, click Create New Office. Here, enter the new school information, assign users, and set roles as needed.

Here are a few things you want to make sure you have completed. I hope it helps. 🙂

 

  • If your new school does not have an assigned state (RTHS) number, give it the same number as an equivalent school. For example, if you are making another Middle School but were not given an RTHS number for that school, give the new one the same number as your current Middle School.
  • Create your years and terms
  • In Years and Terms, add your periods and days
  • Set up your calendar
  • Make your courses available in your new school
  • Set up your periods and Cycle Days
  • Create your bell schedule(s)

This is my base for creating a school. I found this order to be most efficient for me. Things will need to be adjusted to your needs, but hopefully this will be helpful. 

 

District Office
1. Create School at District Office
2. Add Course Catalog to new school
     a. NOTE: This can only be done AFTER the Year is created at the building, Step 1 below
3. (For High School) Set up Class Rank
4. (For High School) Set up GPA Calculations

At The New School
1. Create Year
2. Create Terms S1-S2,T1-T3,Q1-Q4 - (edit the year)
     a. Terms NEED to be done in order: Year,S1,S2,T1,T2,T3,Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4 
3. Set number of Days and Periods
4. Cycle Days
5. Period settings (rename)
6. Next Schools
7. Departments
8. Attendance Preferences
9. Full-Time Equivalencies (FTE)
10. Attendance Conversions
11. Attendance Code Categories
12. Attendance Codes
13. Bell Schedule
14. Calendar Setup (Preferred)
15. GPA Student Screens
16. Class Rank Methods
17. Final Grade/Reporting Term Setup
18. Current Grade Display
19. Class Rank Recalculation
20. Build Email List Preferences
21. Graduation Plan Setup
22. Miscellaneous
23. Mobile Browser Settings
24. Parent/Student Access (Available Features Tab)
25. Quick Lookup Preferences
