 ITEM ANSWER CHOICE RANDOMIZATION WHEN ADDED TO AN EXAM

 

  1. Navigate to Assessment Library, choose a standard and, using the item wizard, create a multiple choice question.
  2. Submit and Approve the item
  3. Add the question to an assessment, by dragging it to the Assessment.
  4. Submit and Approve the assessment
  5. Next to the Assessment name in Assessment Library, click PDF button
  6. Note answer choices are randomized

 

WHEN AND WHY IS THIS FEATURE USED

 

  • When an item is added to an exam, the item’s answer choices will automatically randomize one time from the original order in the creation process. This feature is set up to ensure that all the answer choices do not appear the same in PowerTest. When users create an item, they typically enter the first option choice as the correct answer. The Auto Randomization feature ensures that all of items do not appear on the test with the correct answer as A.

 

 

ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

  • If you would like the answer choices to appear in the same order as they did when you created the item, you will want to click on the locked check box when creating the answer choice in Assessment Library.
  • If a user would like to lock the option choices for an already created item, they can duplicate the item in Assessment Library and lock the answer choices on the duplicated version of the item during the creation of the duplicate item.
