Getting a period to not show on student schedules.

We have a few classes that are manually entered into the system and varying times and with varying students. For instance we have piano lessons for our students, and to avoid having the teachers go in every hour for 1 or 2 students, we have a placeholder period on our schedule where the teacher can just go to one place and enter grades for ALL of their students for the entire cycle. Is there a way to not have this placeholder period show on student schedules?

What do you use to generate these student schedules? A report card-template report?

I just don't want it to show on their matrix view for next year.

What would happen if I remove the checkbox next to "Core" on the periods setup in PowerScheduler?
